In the poetic dominants of Seo's, it is the image of 'blood' that plays the most important role. The blood, which represents the body, indulges in the world of desire unlike the spiritual world. On the one hand, Seo is intoxicated with the world of the blood and on the other hand, he struggles to escape from there. During his lifetime, suffering from the blood, he ponders over how to escape from it.
Restraining the nature of the blood, he tries to unite the body to the soul. The doctrines of buddhism are the principles of the unification. Adopting dependent origination (pratityasamutpada) and reincarnation in zen principles in Buddhist thoughts, he represses the sensual blood world. Thus, to him, the 'dependent origination (pratityasamutpada)' and 'reincarnation' are the principles for constructing a poetic text in narrow perspective. However, they are also thinking systems for uniting his poetic spirit in broad perspective.
Through the systems, he obtains the spirit by which he escapes from the blood world (the Earth) and reaches the Heaven freely. In consequence, he creates eternal life within which the Heaven, the Earth, and the man interact one another.
