One day early in the four month of the nineteenth year of reign of the Silla King Kyongdok(760 AD) Two sun appeared in the sky side by side and remained there for ten day. The King`s councillors said, "If we summon a wise and virtuous monk and hold the flower planting ceremony to invoke Buddha`s blessing, we will be able to catastrophe"
So while the ritual alter was cleaned and prepared in one part of the palace, the king went to the one of the outer pavilions of the palace to wait for a suitable monk. The king sent someone to call Wolmyeong to come. The king said, you`ve already been picked out as a virtuous monk. Could you sing one for us.
The account of Wolmyeong and his Tosolga song is recorded in Book 5, part 7 of the Samguk Yusa.
Here today I sing the flower―planting song
And send forth flowers to be planted amidst the blue clouds.
With a honest and upright spirit
Go forward accompanying the Maitreya of Tosol(Tusita) heaven.
In China, on either side of the Yellow Sea, the rebellion lasted over five years. This was a long and bitter conflict. The rebellion of An Lu-San(安史亂), which only a little more than a year earlier had appeared to be almost over, entered another phase, with an end no longer in sight.
The long stalemate lasted until early 761. It was probably at this stage in the rebellion that the effects most injurious to the existing political and social order developed. the record of these years is filled with mutinies and petty revolts almost always stemming from personal ambitions and rivalries, rather than attachment to larger cause. Such disorder had no connection whatever with the rebell regime.
Revolts on conciderable scale broke out in the Han river(漢水) valley and middle Yangtze area early in 760. Late in 760 there are a major rising in the lower Yangtze, but this was far from the sum of disorder. This is only local struggle for power.
The another sun was visible in Silla. A terrible comet Hally of extraordinary magnitude in the summer of 760. Throughtout Silla, buddists pray as they thought the silla king kyongdok(新羅 景德王)had directed: Dear Buddha, save us from the Enemy, the Japanese, and the another sun.
