민요는 생활 속의 노래이다. 민요는 그들의 생활풍습, 언어, 사상, 감정 등에서 우러나오는 고유한 가락에 민중들이 공감할 수 있는 이야기(사설)가 얹혀진 것이므로 작곡자나 작사자가 따로 없다. 즉, 자연발생적으로 불려진다. 민요를 통한 공동체 의식의 고양은 생산활동에 활력을 주는 요인이 되었다. 양주 ‘상여-회다지소리’는 이와 비슷한 무형문화재들이 현장콘텐츠화될 때의 방향성 및 성공적인 전통문화의 현장컨텐츠화 사례의 모범이 될 만하여 연구해 보았다. 공연의 현황과 문제점으로는, 첫째로 점점 공연 회수가 줄어들고 있음을 들 수 있다. 문화재로 지정받기 전보다 문화재로 지정받은 다음부터는 오히려 서류상의 문제가 대두되어 예산의 문제나 공연 준비 절차가 까다로워지고 복잡해졌기 때문이다. 양주 ‘상여-회다지 소리’ 공연은 내용이나 퀄리티가 상당히 우수하여 현장 문화 콘텐츠로서 발전 가능성은 상당히 높다는 장점이 있다. 실제로도 공연적 요구가 많이 존재한다. 양주 상여-회다지 소리가 대중적 공연물로서 발전할 수 있는 방안과 전망에서 그 약점 극복 및 대안으로, 전문적인 상설공연장 섭외와 적극적인 홍보의 필요성, 그리고 축제로 발전 가능성을 모색하는 방향을 들 수 있다. 그리고 현대 장례 문화와 접목하여 생각해 볼 수도 있다. 현대 장례 문화의 접목을 통하여 생활문화 콘텐츠로서의 가능성을 살펴볼 수 있다. 양주 상여-회다지 소리는 서양과 다른 우리의 장례의식요로 우리 조상들의 장례에 대한 적극적인 인식으로 슬픔을 극복하는 장례의식을 살펴볼 수 있다. 그러나, 변화된 현대의 장례식으로 상여-회다지소리는 점점 사라지고 있다. 이유는 부담스러운 비용과 종교적 영향으로 볼 수 있겠다. 장지가 먼 도시의 구조와 화장의 일반화도 한 몫을 거들고 있다. 그러나, 전문 장례식장 및 공원묘지와의 결합을 통해 상여소리의 부활 가능성을 점쳐볼 수도 있겠다.
Folk song is for daily life. People made a tune which could represent their customs, languages, thoughts and emotions, and added some lyrics on it. So its composer was difficult to be identified, that is, was sung spontaneously. Meanwhile, Yangju has two kind of funeral songs which are categorized into Sangyeo-sori and Hoidadgi-sori. The members of ‘Yangju Sangyeo & Heodadgi’ Preservation Society, which consists of the residents in the village named Goneungmal in Bangsung-ri, Baekseok-myeon in Yangju, has been trying to conserve ‘Sangyeo-Hoidadgi sori’ and make it known to the public. Yangju ‘Sangyeo-Hoidadgi sori’ becomes the model of the successful field contents in the traditional culture and shows how we could turn this kind of intangible cultural assets into the field contents. The features of the ‘Sangyeo-Hoidadgi sori’ of Yangju is the following : - It is a funeral song which has been transmitted from generation to generation in Beakseok-myeon, Yangju. - The funeral ceremonies have been developed because there are a plenty of royal tombs in this area. - It fully has features and formalities of northeastern Kyunggi province. - It was established as one of intangible cultural assets in 1998 and is acknowledged artistically. - Besides the funeral ceremony, there are three or four performances a year. - The youth and the middle-aged in Baekseok, Yangju has been voluntarily working for it. ‘Sangyeo-Hoidadgi sori’ is made a Kyunggi intangible cultural assets documentary as well as a booklet for a study. ‘Sangyeo-Hoidadgi’ center equiped with practice rooms and offices is established. There are a periodical performance and an invitation preformance, which are for people of 30s and 40s but the youth hopefully become interested in them. There are some problem in operation. As mentioned, Yangju ‘Sangyeo-Hoidadgi’ has been trying to arouse people's sympathy. But “just-seeing” audiences and the improper procedure made the audiences and the artists separate. During the performance, a gap between the audiences and the aritists occurred because of the place. To solve the problem, ‘professional master of ceremony’ and booklet distributed before the performance are required, which would alleviate the inharmony. To make ‘Sangyeo-Hoidadgi sori’ a popular performance, we overcome the weak points with efforts : specialized performance hall, aggressive public relations and becoming a kind of festival. And we can find the way in connecting it with the modern funeral ceremony. Connecting with the modern funeral ceremony, we can see the possibility in living-cultural contents. Yangju ‘Sangyeo-Hoidadgi sori’ is a funeral song which is different with western ones and shows us that the Korean ancestors had a positive attitude about the funeral and overcame the grief. However, because of people's being accustomed to modern funeral, ‘Sangyeo-Hoidadgi sori’ is set aside in peoples' mind when associated with religion and somewhat burdensome cost. The remoteness to the burial ground and popularity of cremation are some of the reasons. However, there is some potential that connection between the specialized funeral ceremony place and the cemetery could bring about some bright future for ‘Sangyeo sori’
