This study aims to interpret the transformation process of urban tissues and to find out a procedural typology of them. For these purposes, old Seoul was selected as the area of case study and four morphological periods was set up as shown in the following table: (1) Choseon-Dynasty(1392-1910); (2) Early Japanese Colonial era(1910-1929); (3) Late Japanese Colonial era(1929-1945); (4) Korea(post 1945)
And, the representative map of 4 period ─ each of them were published in 1912, 1929, 1936, 1992 ─ were analysed as sources.
In the step of tracing the transformation process of urban tissue, the changing process of arterial, block forms, street-system in each blocks and plots were analysed and interpreted taking into account the relationship between space, time, habitat, and culture. And in that of extracting the procedural types, the dividing processes of plots and growing process of dead-end street in the blocks were analysed. As a result of case study, the procedural type of plots - street system was found out. Plot center dividing dead-end street was extracted as a leading type, and plot center dividing straight-shaped street was extracted as a synchronous variation.
