This paper is the research on the projection models of urban population of “Technopolis”, and Residential, institutional zone location model calculated quantitatively for R & D employees assuming that new residential zones are already sited at Anyang city, Kwangmyung city, Sungnam city and the existing built-up area in the city of Seoul.
The calculation is performed using micro-computer algorithm.
The study is done according to the following manner.
1) Research Concept :
The research concept consists of the following manner. The deductive reasoning is employed, i. e. the R & D institutional zone, which is at the campus of Seoul National University, is to be at the nearest distances from the various new residential zones of Technopolis-the residential zones of Technopolis to be at the vacant land of mainly Anyang city, and of partially Kwangmyung city and Sungnam city and of the built-up area of Seoul, that is the location of the institutional zone and the new residential zones of Technopolis are sited at first, and then the projected urban population is allocated by the urban interaction model between the institutional zone and new residential zones, i.e. by double-constrained gravity model. The size of the residential zones by the projected population are to be cross-checked by the holding capacity model of the land.
Finally the institutional zone location, Seoul National University campus of “Technopolis” is examined deductively by the evidence inspection using facility location on a plane model.
2) Research
Develop and apply 3 models which are the first “projection model of urban population” and the second “double-constained gravity model and gravity potential model for residential zone area”, and the third, “Facility location on a plane model”.
For urban population the linear regression equation applied with the total employment increase with the model by a distinction between “basic employment and service employment”. For the interaction between the institutional zone and the new residential zones the double-constrained gravity model for the urban interaction between zones of Technopolis is calibrated, and then the holding capacity of the vacant land for the residential zones is cross-checked by the land holding capacity with the gravity potential model.
For the feasibility of the location analysis between the institutional zone and the new residential zones for “Technopalis” the facility location on a plane model is adopted for the examination of the location.
