This thesis suggests the aspects and marked characteristics of The Daehan-Maeil-Shinbo's folk songs in the early twentieth century.
In those days, The communication channel of folk songs had a wide variety. - a long-lived fashion of popular folk songs by a phonograph, a radio broadcast, and transmission of folk(local) music adhered closely to the public's life space, folk songs's recordings and proactial uses of the newspapers.
For a long while, the folk songs of the news papers and magazines went unnoticed.
However, To understand the real facts of the early 21st century's folk songs properly, we need to pay attention to news papers and magazines at that time.
The study of folk songs on the newspapers and magazines is a very meaningful work to investigate the relationship between folk songs and the realities of life and how to generate the double discourse about a nationality and modernity.
As a starting point of this try, I focused on the role of the Daehan-Maeil-shinbo, a representative national newsmagazine, and researched the being complexion on a nationality and narration(description)presentation methods, a characteristic and significance.
Here it clearly brought out the popular[mass] appeal and usefulness of folk songs in that the folk songs is songs of nation, of the populace.
Aiming the populace, especially focused on popular folk songs, It took the methods of utilizing the folk songs narration(description)'s adaptation with a title, a verse, a phrase and a melody. and the folk songs had created, adopted, changed and recreated with relationship of those days's real life.
This aspect has a very important meaning because the Daehan-maeil-shinbo showed folk songs knowledge expansion and multilayered succession purpose.
