This script is an approach to clarify the specific beauty of Nature Si-jo(Korean traditional short-type poetry) which be composed of the question and answer pattern.
Actually through the Korean literary history, question and answer pattern appeared in many Genres, By the way they are mostly come under the narrative genre, But Nature Si-jo is representative lyric poetry. From a thematic point of view, Nature Si-jo contains personal feeling concerning with all kinds of experience about nature, and from a formal point of view, it maintains typical versicular rule. Nevertheless there are so many works which figuring many kinds of nature (various realm including individual things like bird, tree and landscape, environment and so on) among the Si-jo, so it need to be considered specially. Consequently this paper notices Nature Si-jo of Question and Answer style as special matter which realize natural beauty, and inquire a specific character of types, significance of this genre.
Before real analysis of works, this paper investigate fundamental point of question and answer style as compared with general dialogue style and judge that there are two essential part, 'speaker', 'contents' in the bottom of the question and answer style. And I classify Nature Si-jo into three types these are 'speaker main nature experience', 'contents main nature experience' and 'speaker&Contents main nature experience'.
First type, 'speaker main nature experience' uses a impersonated nature thing as a speaker. In this case, nature symbolize authors mentality, and this type heads for nature as objects.
Second type, in 'contents main nature experience', nature is formed by statement from speaker, specified people like a Buddhist monk. They announce the beautiful scenery to people who want to know about it. This type heads for nature as information.
Third type, 'speaker&contents main nature experience' take the situation that speakers talking, and the statement between them This type head for nature as scene.
These all types create artificially reinvented nature as symbol of inner world, as the first step toward imagination and the scene by poetic motive.
Generally North-East Asia regard 'nature' as perfect thing, absolute order and flawless harmony. So most nature poetry concerned with being content amid poverty and taking pleasure in doing in an honest way. But Nature Si-jo of Question and Answer style embody visual nature in works as one of otherness. As a result, this nature as otherness emphasize aesthetic inclination and induce different natural beauty from mental satisfaction.
