The stories of the faithful servants and rebellious servants that we find in the oral tradition or in the documents which had been written down reveals the different opinions on the relationship between the masters and their servants. And we are also able to observe the circumstances and connections set in these stories.
Of these stories, ‘The Story of Clever Servant and Foolish Master’ shows the difference between the story transmitted orally and that written down more sharply. The story that we find in the documents is the reflection of the ruling class's rejection complex. By means of the stories of faithful servants and those of rebellious servants, they stressed the loyalty to the master and accentuated the revenge on the rebellious servants.
Many kinds of stories that treat the faithful servants and rebellious servants were not only written down but transmitted orally. In these stories the ruled's mocking stance upon their foolish master is too much obvious. But in some districts where the conservative circumstance was predominant, the stories of faithful servants were orally transmitted.
These stories were generated over the high wave of historical change that led to the unrest of the social hierarchy. In the stories of the documents, the ruling class had an orientation to maintain the present social hierarchy. In the stories transmitted orally, on the other hand, the ruled raised an objection to the orientated meaning.
Hearing or reading these debates, we have the boon to reach at some kinds of idealogical instruction and enjoyment. The function of this narrative is this: not only the reader's mind comes up to perceive their idealogical meaning, the hearer embraces the crack of the social hierarchy with some relaxation and a warm attention.
