Although maximal exercise load tests are used in the athletic and medical fields, studies handball players are few. The purpose of this study is obserbed the cardiopulmonary response to maximal exercise loading in handball players. The subjests were 10 athletes who were occupied to W University handball players. They were performed gradually increment exercise test using a treadmill.
The inclination of the treadmill was fixed at 6% degree, & the initial velocity of the test was 80m/min. The results were as follows;
1. Maximal heart rate was 190.4±8.2 beats per minute, and Maximal oxygen uptake per 1㎏ of body weight per minute was 64.2±9.6(㎖/㎏/min).
2. AT-levels were 76.2±8.2% VO₂ <SUB>max</SUB> and 91.4±3.6%HR <SUB>max</SUB>.
3. VO₂ <SUB>max</SUB> & AT-level effect on work capacity.
It was shown tendancy that AT-level was closer than VO₂ <SUB>max</SUB> in the relation between VO₂ <SUB>max</SUB>, AT and work capacity. For the performance of handball players, it is necessary to percribe training program based on VO₂<SUB>max</SUB> & AT-level, and also specific training program for the increase of VO₂ <SUB>max </SUB>and AT-level is required.
