The purpose of this study was to analyzed response of women breath-hold diver's stress hormone concentration and immune function in a maximal power test. Two group's 19 female were participated in this study. One group is consist of 9 breath-hold diver's(41.3yr) and the other was 10 general female's group(36.9yr). Wingate test was performed as a maximal power test.
The result of study can be summarized as follows.
At pre and post maximal power test, the group of the breath-hold diver's cortisol was significantly lower than general female group. At post test, the breath-hold diver group's epinephrine and norepinephrine concentration was significantly decreased, however general female group was significantly increased. The breath-hold diver group's norepinephrine concentration was significantly lower than general female group at the post test. Control group's T cell was significantly increased to pre test. The breath-hold diver group's Th/Ts ratio was significantly lower than general female group. The breath-hold diver group's B cell and NK cell was increased to post test but not significant. Both group's IL-2 concentration was not significant to pre and post test.
As, above results this study can suggested that adaptation to cold water decrease the breath-hold diver group's cortisol and norepinephrine concentration and this tendency to adaptation also have a positive effect on immune function.
