A purpose of this research is to investigate the meaning of 'bab(boiled rice)' in special poetic columns about 'bab' on daily newspaper and brighten the way how 'bab' has cultural meanings to the Koreans. To the Koreans, 'bab' keeps the central part of mentality. On this point, the poems that sing 'bab' are effective pathways to investigate the real state of Korean lives and characteristics of Korean mentality.
The result of investigation shows that 'bab' is a thing that heals wounds and troubles of the usual Koreans. 'bab' reminds a memory of hunger but it heals the wound. And a huger amplifies troubles in front of temptations of foods but 'bab' enables to overcome the temptations.
And to the Koreans, 'bab' is a thing that sublimates the pain of routine lives to the world of rationality. 'Bab' is not only the main body of the most intense desire but also the starting point of temperance and share. And a meal of 'bab' makes a ground of meeting and leaving but new start begins through it.
