One of the outstanding changes in the Korean traffic statistics showing the number of victims of car accidents for the last 30 years is the remarkable increase of the number of the aged who died of the car accident. In this respect, this study aims at analyzing causes and problems of this increase and providing the plans to decrease the car accidents of the aged. To solve such research problems, this study employs the method that studies the statistics relating to the traffic accidents for last 30 years. The findings of this study is what to follow. The increasing traffic accidents of the aged mainly results from two causes. The first one is the characteristics of the aged and the ignorance of the other age group to the condition of the aged. The second one is the absence of the policy alternatives and traffic facilities considering the aged. This study suggests a few policy prescriptions to alleviate this situation.
