Ideology works as the most prominent basis of the presence of human's social life. This thesis looked into Poet by Lee Moon Yeol in extension of the aspect of transfiguration of the subject according to calling and estrangement of ideology.
For this study. it is based on the idea that ideology is like a power and a process of an imaginative reappearance that needs a certain medium to embody itself. The imaginative reappearnce inevitably shows some deviation in case of ruling elites and ruined ones. The deviation is that the ruined elites like Kim Byoung yeon in Poet cannot help but to accompany the psychology of distortion and metamorphosis because they are neglected from the present power unlike the ruling elites. This thesis tried to reveal the process that the imaginative distortion of ideology took to embodies itself through social. resisting. and fictitious processes.
In chapter 2. the reconstruction of social subject and its intrinsic dependancy, Kim Byoung Yeon recognized literature newly as a medium of representation to reconstruct the relationship of ideology and honeymoon. namely the social subject.
Kim believes that the past poem held the utility to change the place from ruined elites to ruling elites as a compensation for the lack of social subject. Of course this belief shows the awareness of the language as a tool of reappearance of ideology is not linked to reality but to imagination. For this distinguished view. however. the social subject that Kim Byoung Yeon tries to reconstruct has an important limit as a 'subordinated subject' who only has a freedom but to obey to higher power and accept that obedience willingly.
In chapter 3. the restrictive meaning inherited in resisting subject. it shows the second chapter of literature world of Kim Byoung Yeon. In this time. he gave up the social subject which he pursued fiercely to create the past poem.
Kim Byoung Yeon changed not as the social subject for subordination but democratic subject for resistance. penetrating the essence of ideology which functions as confirming point which dominate and regulate the life of subject despite of its falsity. His change, however, has a certain meaning in the aspect of resisting ideology, but has a limit in the aspect of 'new ideology of centralism'.
In chapter 4, 'fictitious subject, new subordination as freewill disarmament', The de-ideological features of Kim Byoung Yeon. who gives up all the resistance in the method of narration is captures by the sight of his son, Kim Ik Gyun, At this point, the novel depends on the narration excessively, the problem of fiction of the narration combines with the problem of fictitious subject entirely. As long as the essence of ideology is the relation of imagination, the subject is no option but to be fictitious whether it combines with the society in whatever kind of aspects. And this looks of fiction brings on the problem of 'new submission of approving ruling system' ultimately giving up 'history and subject'.
Considering the above study, Poet by Lee Moon Yeol is the radical novel of ideology which the called ideology and estranged ideology, or called subject and estranged one approve each other dialectically. This novel shows 'thorough centralism of ideology' which never accept the outer of ideology. Also the human subject in Poet is a product of social discussion. In the social discussion, through the process that Kim Byung Yeon. a human change from social subject to resisting one, to fictitious one, it presents the pessimistic conclusion that 'human being exists to subordinate to ideology'.
