After 1910, Government general controled the scientific investigations about Korea, and appointed some anthropologists, architects, historians as chocktak. It was Dori Ryujou, Sekino Tadashi, Iamnishi Ryu, Kuroita Katsumi. Before constitution of the historic remnains investigation committee(1916), they investigated remains 10 Korea.
This essay is about their investigation. At that time(1910~1915), they investigated nor only almost important remains in Korea but Manchuria. Because this investigation isn't accomplished under the overall plan of Government general, chocktaks sometimes cooperated each other and sometimes drew different conclusions. But generally they concerned vestiges of the Stone Age, physical peculiarities of Koreans, tombs of ancient, sites of castle. The conclusions of investigation was as follows.
1) Korea and Japan have connected over historic-age. It was explained by stone implements as well as ethnical common features.
2) In ancient times, the reaches of me DaeDong River was realm was NakrangㆍDaebang.
3) Korean cultures appeared in structures, positions and relics of tombs was very similar to Chinese and Japanese culture. It meaned that role of Korea was messenger of Chinese culture to Japan.
These emphasized on close connection of Korea and Japan, heteronomy of Korean history and incompetence of Korean in culture-creation.
Specially these conclusions were based on relics and remains. But chocktsks scarcely used historical materials like Nihonshoki and Kojiki that might cause arguments. This attitude might have glorified the conclusions of investigations as me name of 'science'. And since then, because these conclusions was also used as materials of distortions of Korean history, even distortions could be justified as 'science', too.
