This study is about what kind of political powers the political powers which was called "the right wing" existed as, what kind of social movement it brought up, and how about its background of thought was, for twenty years from the Chino-Japanese War to World War 1.
The result of this study can be arranged as the following. It is from the latter half of the 1920's years that the political powers called "the right wing" now, began to be called. The reason why they called it "the right wing" at that time is because the political powers of socialism which rose up at the times between the end of the 19C and the beginning of 20C, began to be called "the left wing", and to be opposed to the nationalist and the government of factionalism.
Before they were called "the right wing", they were called "nationalists". Before the Chino-Japanese war of 1894~5 they had been called "national prestigious men". The reason why "national prestigious men" were called "nationalists" was that Japanese set up against the western powers of imperialism after the Chino-Japanese war of 1894~5.
The people who had made such a line as "national prestigious men", "nationalists", and "the right wing" were from the west-north region of Kyusyu and from the former wanderers in the Continent of Asia who performed their duties as advance guard supporters in Japanese's Continental spoliation. Most of them were belonging to such nationalists group as Genyosya, Kokuryukai, Roninkai, etc, and brought about such nationalists movement as Japanism movement, the same language and race movement, the movement of hard-line policy, the movement open war against Russia, the movement of the Japanese annexation of Korea, the movement of Chinese Revolution, the movement for the independence of Manchuria-Mongol.
The nationalists were people who had taken such a thought as Japanese Imperialism that Japan is Tenno's country and Japanese are subjects of Tenno who are the King of Japan. Japan could not but confront the western powers of imperialism in the precess of going out from the Chino-Japanese war of 1894~5 by way of Japanese-Russian war of 1904~5 to World War 1.
Then, the Beings who had appeared in the process of its confronts were nationalists and socialists. They were those who convert to the right wing and the left wing in the process of Japan's converting to the nation of imperialism through her continental spoliation. But, the basic difference between the nationalists and the socialists was that which attitude they took toward Japanese Imperialism based on the Emperor system of Japan. The nationalists converted to the right wings by accepting through the Japanese Imperialism, and the socialists converted to the left wings by taking their strong opposite attitudes toward the Japanese Imperialism.
