The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of psychological skill training for improvement of motor learning in gymnastics. The experimental group was composed of 10 students who were practiced a particular psychological skill training per week. The comparative group was also composed of 10 students but they were not practiced a particular psychological skill training. Both of group were evaluated with a floor exercise over 7 times which evaluation were executed by 3 specialists of gymnastics. The main results of this study were as follow: First, psychological skill training had a positive influence on the learning of a floor exercise in elementary gymnasts. The average mark of experimental group that was practiced a particular psychological skill training was higher than that of comparative group that was not practiced any psychological skill training. Second, the practice of continuous psychological skill training was more effective. The average mark of the experimental group was drastically improved after psychological skill training than that of comparative group(p＜.001), and the interaction between group(psychological skill training) and times(a period of training) was presented(p＜.001). The proposals based on these results were as follow: First, it is necessary to verify that the psychological skill training was effective in apparatus gymnastics such as the vaulting horse that imposed psychological burden to young gymnasts. Second, it is necessary to verify of durability and threshold of the effectiveness of psychological skill training through the experiment with a long them.
