The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of resistance muscle training on driver shot distance in golfers. The influence of the resistance training(3times/week:4 month) on muscle max power(1RM) of golf to collegians. 25 golf collegians participated as subjects after signing an informed consent. Resistance muscle training on golf athletics was over 3 year carrier(handy 10±.2). They were total 20 college men and women except for 5 drop-out women among 25 participants. To treat the research results, it was to use paired t-test in order to compare with the differences in pre and post test of 16 weeks resistance training.
The main results were as followings. After the resistance muscle training for 16 weeks was the positve influence to maximal muscle power. There was significant difference in leg curl, squat, trunk flexion, hip extension, rotary torso, bench press, lat pully and arm curl except leg press and shoulder press to men. After training, the college women's leg curl, leg extension, leg press, trunk flexion, hip extension, bench press, shoulder press and arm curl increased significantly(p<.05) but squat, rotary torso and lat pully was not significant difference. There was no significant difference in iron-5 but driver-1, iron-7, head speed and ball speed increased significatly(p<.05) in men and women.
Results of this study indicate that resistane training is required to improve the driver shot distance and muscle max power ability of golf and has positive effects for golfer. and further research is required to the scientific approach related to flexbility factor and exercise risk factor of golf.
