Inflow of iron culture into the Korean peninsula was possible through inland route and sea route. Many elements of Chinese culture spread by sea route were transmitted to Korea and Japan. These elements include Chinese coins and oracle bones excavated from the shell mounds. In particular, oracle bone is very important as physical material verifying ancient people's religion and rituals in China. Moreover, as oracle bones have been often excavated at inland morass as well as at shell mounds, it was considered that use of oracle bone was widely spread as incantatory ritual.
Accordingly, oracle bone and Chinese coin excavated are important materials suggesting the active foreign exchanges of ancient people. With these kind of archaeological materials, it was known that the ancient people at south coast regions had the active foreign exchanges with merchants of Han's colony and had monetary system and incantatory ritual like Chinese one.
As it is confirmed through archaeological materials, the role of south coast region which was the base of intermediary trade have been newly emerged in foreign exchanges owing to its geopolitical location.
Besides, the people of this region could actively cope with negotiation with Wi(ancient Japan) as well as with China. After Nakrang(Han's colony) was expelled from the Korean peninsula, they brought to displace people of Nakrang and made a great contribution to establishment of ancient state through active foreign exchanges with China and introduction of Chinese culture.
