Generally, the origin of tombs in the Three Kingdoms Period is regarded as a succession of native culture and an influence of the culture of Central Plain(中原) in ancient China. But many tombs in the Han river region, the Yeong-san river region, and the Nak-dong river region are different with those in Central Plain in their structure and style.
I call it a new name, Tochukmyo(土築墓). I have concentrated upon the origin of Tochukmyo since 1984. At first, I have search for its relationship with Mounded Tombs(土墩墓) in the Yangtse river(揚子江) region. So I have published a few opinions. But afterwards, a new data was found and the research by the Chinese academic school proceeded about Mounded Tombs. Putting together the above opinion, the new data, and the research results, I discussed as a whole the influences and relations between Tochukmyo in the Korean Peninsula and Mounded Tombs in the Yangtse river region in this study.
As a result, I was able to confirm that Tochukmyo formed under the influence of Mounded Tombs, and to discover the route of propagation. In addition, I was able to find the different point of view with Chinese reserchers about the origin of mounds in Chinese tombs and the relationship between Mounded Tombs and mounds in Chinese tombs.
