The Korean and the Chinese adoration of red and white color originated from their peculiar natural environment, living environment. and religious faith.
The Korean adoration of a white color is closely connected with both the way of life of a nomadic people who held the sun sacred and the natural environment of the area that the people inhabited
With time it had settled down on the Korean Peninsula. Still, it had been affected by Shamanism that worships heaven on it. After all, it was adapted to local tastes and became the Korean trait.
That's why the Koryo and Choson Dynasty could adhere to the use of white as a symbolic color of the Korean People, even though some people, influenced by Sino centrism and doctrine of the five natural elements of the positive and negative, tried to change it into blue which means the east.
The Chinese adoration of a red color was also affected by the natural environment at the place where they resided. In other words, it was originated from the yellow and the red soil in the area where the people had settled down first.
As the doctrine of the five natural elements of the positive and negative, which the philosophical ideology is connected with the natural environment, had since been developed, the Chinese adoration of a red color has a point.
At first, according to the doctrine, not only the yellow color in the central area but also the red one in south became a symbolic of the Chinese. Yet, as time went by, the yellow color can be used only for an emperor and his family, and the red one for the general public
As a result. the Chinese adoration of red has been reflected on their ways of life so far.
