This study was intended to find out the proper pattern of warming-up to improve performance, understanding the effects of four patterns(Non preparation; NP, Warm-up only(running); WP, warm-up and stretching; WS, stretching only; SP) of warming-up on isokinetic strength and comparing?analyzing performance ability according to the execution of WP and SP. Twelve male volunteers in university participated in the research for 4 days. After they conducted 4 patterns of warming-up, Isokinetic muscular function(knee 60°/sec, 180°/sec, ankle 60°/sec) was measured as follows.
1. Peak Torque in knee extensor showed high WS in 60°/sec and 180°/sec (F3,33=3.457, p=.028; F3,33=9.158, p=.000), and muscle fatigue displayed low WS (F3,33=4.200, p=.013).
2. Peak Torque in ankle plantar flexors presented high WS in 60°/sec (F3,33=3.191, p=.036), and there was no significant difference, although WP was high in ankle dorsi flexors.
3. Muscle fatigue was low in WS (F3,33=3.287, p=.033). According to the execution of WP, Peak Torque in knee extensor exhibited high WPY in 60°/sec (t=3.048, p=.011) and 180°/sec (t=3.208, p=.008). Peak Torque in ankle plantar flexors had high WPY (t=.391, p=.036) as well, but muscle fatigue of ankle dorsi flexors showed low WPY (t=2.614, p=.024).
Therefore, it is effective to perform mixed warming-up with WP and SP for an event that requires consistent muscle strength.
