The purposes of this study was to investigate secondary physical education teachers' perceptions of social support for their job performance and organizational commitment and to examine the influences of social support on their organizational commitment. For those purposes, secondary physical education teachers in Gyeonggi Province were sampled in the convenient sampling method and asked to fill out a questionnaire about social support and organizational commitment. Total 247 questionnaires were gathered and put to descriptive statistics and multiple regression analysis using the SPSS Ver. 14.0 program. The major findings were as follows:
First, the physical education teachers' overall perceptions of social support were not very high or positive. Their perceptions of emotional support were high but those of evaluation support were low. Secondly, their perceptions of organizational commitment were not very high or positive, either. While their perceptions of affective commitment were high, those of normative commitment were not very high or positive. Finally, social support had statistically significant impacts on their organizational commitment. However, information support and evaluation support among the sub-factors of social support didn't have any significant impacts on normative commitment and continuous commitment, respectively.
