Searching Kim Gyu-Dong’s poetics, we can see the discourse on modernity of contemporary poems in 1950s was a problem related on the critical self-reflection, and also a result of the methodological trial for grasping realty of contemporary era.
So the thought of negation trvealed in 1950s’ modenism poerty is based on the historical, philosopical recognition of modrnity. And this self-judgement reveals rhe intention of braking through the contemporary chaos and disorder for constructing new order.
Kim Gyu-Dong’s poetics in 1950s has two characteristics, that commonly aims at constructing new poetics. First, he in insisted anti-naturalism criticizing the poetics of ‘chungnokpa(靑鹿派)’. In this attempt, he wanted to reconstruct modernist poetry movement that reflect contemporary reality. Second, he built his characteristic poetics of imaginary aesthetics to recognize modernity. In this poetics, he revealed his conciousness of language that make stress on anti-lyricism. This standpoint shows his intention to sur-realism, that contains foregrounding of materials and phenomenon rather than meanings and self confession of reality recognitions.
In this regards, Kim Gyu-Dong’s poetics in 1950s has the significant meaning that resistance on old convention can make construction of critical subject having mental order of looking at his real world.
