In Western historiography, Africa is on the periphery of world history and western historian instinctively disconnect the great civilizations of Africa from African people. Some African historians say that African civilization is equal to Western civilization historically. This idea is also romantic argument.
In order to understand African historical and cultural identity exactly we need to get new paradigm for the methodology. An Afrocentric approach or Africanism will be alternative methodology. New methodology which will allow us to look at the African history, African culture and African people.
The objective of this study is to clarify the new methodology for African history including African studies. The resolution of these problems are extremely important for three reasons. Firstly, to clarify the position of African peoples in the world, and secondly, to understand African historical and cultural identity, and third, to overthrow provincialism and narrow western visions of the world by demonstrating the usefulness of an Afrocentric approach to questions of knowledge.
