The production of livestock, with accompanying animal wastes, is one of the notable sources of pollutants in the Paldang Region. Livestock carrying capacities are evaluated in the Paldang region to discern deficiencies in governmental responses to problems associated with animal waste. Overall, the evaluation shows some counties and cities in the Paldang region exceed the land's carrying capacity for the application of livestock manure.
In water supply source region, regulations should be based on the threshold level of animal units, such that all operations of a certain size be subjected to the regulations. Such regulations require livestock producers to adopt new technologies, manure management systems, and other practices with a proportional to the carrying capacities. Also land application of animal manure should be incorporated with scientific information on nutrients, soils, topography, rainfall, vegetation, and management practices.
