The Bolero system functionally resolved this B/L dilemma. Bolero Project developed a cross industry utility platform for the secure, electronic transfer of commercial trade information world wide.
The Title Registry and Bolero Bill of Lading provide a fully functional equivalent to the paper bill of lading. The Bolero Bill of Lading can be created, transferred, amended, and surrendered by way of designating to order party, blank endorsement, refusal by the transferee etc. But the Bolero Bill of Lading has not been used as commercial service.
And EDEN(Electronic DElivery for Negotiable document) project started as the Japanese Version of Trade and Finance EDI Demonstration Experiment Project at the end of 1997. The aim of EDEN project was to demonstrate that the application of EDI to trade and finance transaction was feasible technologically and effective, and to establish a technological foundation for the construction of a trade and finance EDI system that will find global acceptance. After success of this project, Trade Electronic Data Interchange(TEDI) was founded under the auspice of Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. Through TEDI Project, the RSP Model is introduced as e-trade solution like Bolero's Solution. But the RSP Model Solution has not been introduce in the trade community.
The purpose of this paper is to study the introduction of electronic Bill of Lading in Korea based on the e-Trade infrastructures such as e-Trade Document Repository and e-L/C Service system, which will be installed by the Korea e-Trade Roadmap Project(2004-2007).
