This thesis purposed to research the Buddhist children's literature of Korea. Especially, the present state and task about the Buddhist children's literature of Korea.
In Korea, the present state of the Buddhist children's literature can be divided three aspects. The first, the retelling of sutras, especially J?taka that is stories of the Buddha's former births. This sutra was consisted of a lot of literary works such as fable, figure etc.. It has a good moralities because it is a religious sutra. Therefore lots of country reflected this sutras on their literary works from a long time ago over the world. These day, children's literature writers retell this sturas in Korea. Secondly, the retelling of Buddhist folktales such as the folktales of temple construction, Buddhist legends and so on. Thirdly, the creative Buddhist children's literature. Children's stories(or fairy tales), children's poems, and children's plays that reflected the Buddhism.
But these lots of Buddhist children's literature were dominated by the Buddhism. The harmony between the contents of Buddhism and the literary form is the best policy for the Buddhist children's literature.
A number of children's writers such as Ahn Do-hyeon, U Bong-gyu, Lee Ga-eul, Jeong Chae-bong retells or creates a good Buddhist children's works comparatively. In the near future, the Buddhist children's literature will be developed a lot.
