This study attempted to examine and investigate the process, background, and factors behind the establishment of standard Japanese. The details of consideration are divided into domestic factors and foreign factors focusing on the ideas of “Ueda”, including [The character improvement theory.] To sum up, the results are as follows.
1. The factors based on domestic background
① [Character improvement theory] of “U-e-da, Kazutoshi”
② The role of [National language] for [The unification of citizens]
③ The role of [National language] as a method to assimilate foreigners living in Japan.
2. The factors based on foreign background
① Advancing [National language] into overseas as a common language of the Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere
② The recognition of [National language] as a method to assimilate the other races.
Although this study focused on the idea of U-e-da, I will put this problem off for the later research because the matter of establishing a standard language is deeply related to [The unification of the written and spoken language].
