Criticizing the old research practice of lacking full exploration into Yun Seok-jung’s life, this study set out to shed light on his father Yun Deok-byeong’s life, which had remained in a blind spot. His father was an important figure on the front line of socialist movement from 1920 to 1930. In 1925, he’s elected the central inspection commissioner at the first meeting of Chosun Community Part and was imprisoned for four years. There is no doubt that such a unique career of his father must have affected Yun’s literature in any way. To find out the correlations, the investigator reviewed his works in Yun Seok-Jung’s Collection of Children’s Rhymes published in 1932. The author demonstrated his personal sad history in relation to his father and his personal consciousness for social participation in The Elder Brother’s Errands, which describes a little boy handing out leaflets to replace her elder brother that’s on a strike, The Bangpae Kite, which is about a boy saying good-bye to his father leaving home, and Hey, Scarecrow!, which describes the horrid aspects of colonial exploitation. The collection also contains children’s songs that were filled with the elements of resistance, common people, and optimism. It’s difficult to attribute those works to the atmosphere of the times or the literary trend at that time. It’s clear that the origin is his father’s unique, difficult life as an activist that devoted his life to the liberation of his motherland.
