The school of Seon(禪宗), especially the Seon of seeing the Gong-An(公案), asserts that the doubt of the Wha-Doo(話頭 疑心/疑情) leads to the Sudden Enlightenment and Seeing Nature (頓悟見性). There are two views on the interrelation between the doubt of the Wha-Doo(話頭 疑心/疑情) and the Sudden Enlightenment and Seeing Nature (頓悟見性).
One is that the mind which desires to know the unknown makes the acquiring the Sudden Enlightenment and Seeing Nature (頓悟見性). This view pays attention to the ordinary meaning of the word "doubt". The other is that the doubt of the Wha-Doo(話頭 疑心/疑情) is a kind of method for concentration which makes the mind not-divided. But these two views are not sufficient argument to explain the causal interrelation between the doubt of the Wha-Doo and the Sudden Enlightenment and Seeing Nature.
The doubt of the Wha-Doo has the aspect of non-prescription. We have to pay attention to this aspect of non-prescription to understand the causal interrelation between the doubt of the Wha-Doo and the Sudden Enlightenment and Seeing Nature. The seeker of the Sudden Enlightenment and Seeing Nature takes the aspect of non-prescription in Wha-Doo and concentrate on it. thus can acquire the Sudden Enlightenment and Seeing Nature.
