Lim, JH., Park, W.Y., This study aimed to identify the effects of figure skate training on equilibrium, balance strategy, and sensory organization ratio in figure skaters. Fourteen subjects with mid level of figure skate training for about 3.6 years, and control group were assessed with the sensory organization tests(SOT) under six visual and somatosensory input conditions by computer dynamic posturography(Equitest). A figure skaters group was significant high equilibrium score(p<.05) in C2(eye closed, fixed support), C5(eye close, sway referenced support), and C6(sway referenced visual and support). Balance strategy was not significantly difference between groups. A figure skaters group had better VEST ratio(C5/C1) than a counterpart(p<.05), and VIS(C4/C1) and SOMA(C2/C1) was no significantly difference between groups. Long participation in figure skaters to speed up the development of postural control and vestibular function in figure skaters. The results indicated that clinicians might advocate modified figure exercise as a therapeutic intervention for people with balance or vestibular dysfunctions.
