The purpose of this study is to investigate as to whether there are any differences in employment stress according to undergraduates’ demographic characteristics, and then to check what effects social problem-solving abilities and the Ego-resilience will have on the employment stress.
In order to do this, we carried out a survey, with the results follows. First, in the t-test, there was no gender difference; those who have experienced and decided upon employment showed low anxiety about unemployment; moreover, in relation to schools, college students showed higher sub factors of employment stress than university students. Secondly, as a result of the regression analysis, out of the sub factors of employment stress, anxiety about unemployment was affected by negative problem orientation, rational problem-solving skill, and ego resiliency; especially, the negative problem orientation affected loss of self-confidence regarding employment, negative emotions in daily life were affected by negative problem orientation, impulsive/careless response styles, positive problem orientation and ego resiliency. On the basis of the above results, we suggested an approach for decreasing the employment stress according to demographic characteristics, and a way on intervention of social problem-solving abilities and ego resiliency according to the specific types of employment stress.
