Coordinations among actors are a critical mechanism in the formation and change of political institutions. Winner"s takes all nature of power struggle, the ubiquity of collective action, institutional density characterize politics. Because of these characters, coordinations are quite comprehensive and critical in the political. This study argues that the logic of coordination game could provide micro-foundations instead of structural causes for macro political events and institutions. For example, the logic of coordination game has made theoretical contributions in the areas on dictatorship, political change in authoritarianism, revolution, and state building. These empirical contributions of coordination game show a clue how to solve theoretical difficulties between structural and actor-based institutional approaches in comparative politics.
