This article focuses on how modern poetry text which a countersubject produced was selected, excluded and reinstated within the korean language textbook. These studies, based on an issue about canon of literature text, should be useful to investigate facts of censorship that influenced in korean language textbooks and a process of canonization for modern poetry.
In a number of texts listed in korean language textbook, there were works of mainstream canon and those were not. This involves not only an issue about a canon of literature and education but also ideology which influenced in the process of selection and exclusion. This article considers a nationalistic discourse as the dominant discourse which influenced in the process of canonization for modern poetry. This article mainly tracked the process of canonization for the works of Hwa Lim, Byungchul Lee and Yong-ahk Lee who fought against the dominant discourse. In a case of Hwa Lim"s 「Our brother and Brazier」and Yong-ahk Lee"s 「A Violet」, it was confirmed that those have been naturally selected as a position of mainstream canon through the evaluation of literary circles within literary field, the recording process of anthology and etc. In addition, in a case of 「Wooden Shoes」, it was confirmed that representation of "Road" is related to the tastes of compliers and the state of a period characterized as ‘building a new country’. On the other hand, it was confirmed that 「Our brother and Brazier」?and 「Wooden Shoes」were excluded from korean language textbook through the pre-censorship and 「A Violet」?was through the post-censorship. These operations of censorship mechanism no longer made it possible to choose literary texts by compliers" own perspective or taste. Later, these texts have started to be reinstated again into the field of literary education, which was resulted from the consideration for the importance of literary history and the multi-layered meaning of the text itself.
In this time when the external operation of the censorship mechanism becomes weakened but the system of pluralistic value gets strengthened, various discourses are still conflicted and adjusted through the process of canonization for literary text. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate continually the spots of literary texts’ the expansion and boundaries within the korean language textbooks.
