The purpose of this study was to investigate heart rate and relative intensity of acrobic dance according to music tempo. Ten aerobic dance experts (Group I) and ten aerobic dance beginners(Gruop II) enrolled in Dept. of physical Education in Dong-Duk women`s university were selected to serve as subjects in this study. Each subject performed low-impact aerobic dance(LIA) and high-impact aerobic dance(HIA) for three and a half minutes at different music tempo(125 beat/min, 135 beat/min, 145 beat/min, 155 beat/min, 165 beat/min), respectively. The collected data were analyzed by means of dependent t-test independent t-test, or one-way analysis of variance(ANOVA) with repeated measures. The results of the study showed that ; 1) significant differences in heart rate for a Groups were found among 5 music tempos, 2) significant differences in heart rate for 2 Groups at each music tempo were found between LIA and HIA, 3) significant difference in heart for LIA and HIA at each music tempo was not found beteween Group I and II, 4) relative exercise intensity of LIA and HIA for Group I were about 60 ∼ 76% MHR(43 ∼ 67% music tempo MHRR) and 71 ∼ 81% MHIt(58 ∼ 63 MHRR) in the range of respectively, 5) relative exercise intensity of LIA and HIA for Group II were about 63 ∼ 79 % MHR(45 ∼ 70 % MHRR) and 72 ∼ 83 % MHR(59 ∼ 75 % MHRR) in the range of music tempo, respectively. These results suggests that : 1) music tempo and mode of affect the change of heart rate and exercise in aerobic dance, 2) music temper beyond 135 beat/min for aerobic dance are suitable for the development of cardiorespiratorg function of female expert as well as beginners in 20 age of females
