This paper discusses a design method of serious games that have recently become a hot topic as a positive role to be played by the game industry, especially focusing on what the design of serious games for the silver generation may consider.
The silver-generation serious game can have a specific purpose of improving physical and psychological health of the aged population. It is to be provided by the traditional element of fun in games but also by the specific function of preventing or delaying the deterioration of the physical functions of the aged. For this, this paper proposes a arcade platform that involves technology of integrative contents creation both of software and hardware. Yet in the beginning, it seems necessary to separate the aspects of hardware and software to design games with specific functions. This paper attempts to present a design method for each design element of the specific purpose arcade game, one for the entertainment device and one for the contents. It seeks to make a foundation for the expansion of the game industry by integrating the cutting-edge technology of the industry with the know-how of the silver industry.
