The purpose of this study is to introduce the literature of Korean Brazilian and understand the characteristics of its own, which has been a limit to approach in the history of Korean literature. The history of Korean Brazilian"s immigration and the forming of community in Brazil are introduced as an introduction of this study. In doing so, this study shows Korean Brazilian"s experiences as an immigrant, establishing identity of self and nation, and mental growth based upon all the experiences, followed by post-centralism blended with diversity and hybridity. We can find these characteristics from ‘Swan’, ‘Rose of sharon’ and literature magazines such as ‘tropical culture’. Especially, ‘Winter in Sao Paulo’ by Ahn, Kyung-Ja and ‘A lady in multi-nationality’ by Jung, Susana show political situations related to the first generation"s experiences and physical wealth accumulated in fabric industry and mental poverty, and a frontier spirit which comes up with an open-minded view of the world. In addition, these novels represent special memories and experiences of Korean diaspora, ranging from religious imagination which becomes the mental shelter to communicate with others, nostalgia, an authorized church, international marriages and serendipity related to marriages based upon pictures. Korean diaspora"s open-minded view of the world operates as a power for Korean"s position in the world and suggests the transition of Korean"s view of the world. To support this, we need to find the way for Korean Brazilians to discuss about their culture and spirits, which has been disconnected since the activity of ‘Tropical Culture’.
