Traditionally, the thoughts and texts of Meister Eckhart have been dealt with by the areas of spirituality, mysticism, and philosophical scholasticism. The purpose of this paper, however, is to understand the thoughts of Eckhart, in particular his notion of Union with Godhead, from the perspective of poststructuralism. It has been well known that Meister had tried to reach to the Godhead via his unique concept of Abgeschiedenheit, Gelassenheit, Ledigkeit, and finally Durchbruch. The writer’s trial is to compare and contrast between the way of Eckhart’s union with God and Gilles Deleuze and Felix Guattari’s concept of becoming-imperceptible. In particular, it will be engaged in through their writing, “A Thousand Pleataeu”. Understanding the differences between the concept of becoming-something and creation or evolution in the traditional philosophy, the writer reaches a conclusion that Eckhart, through Durchbruch, went on to the ultimate region of becoming, that is, becoming-Godhead from the viewpoint of Deleuzians philosophy. Based on the Eckhartian texts, the region where Eckhart had reached through the union with Godhead, has neither any common aspect of quality nor quantity between the two. Thus, it is referred to as nothingness or the undifferentiated which is identified with tao(道), void(空), or the plane of immanence/consistency in Deleuze’s terms. By dint of this effort, the writer expects that the conversation between Eckhart and Asian religions will be revitalized in the future.
