This case study presented the effects of Problem Based Learning (PBL) program adapted by university physical education curriculum which examined participants’ physical activity capacity enhancement and educational satisfaction. The study involved a total of 23 university students (male: 17, female: 6) in swimming class. To develop a teaching method that propose future vision and improve their own problem solving skills, Keimyung Teaching Community (KTC) was actively used. Applying new dimension of teaching method at problem recognition stage in swimming class, members of KTC conducted reviewing teaching method, examining solutions, experimental design, and result derivation.
The following results were obtained. First, PBL motivated students and helped learning and problem solving skills. Secondly, problem recognition using videoing technique was perceived as an effective method. Thirdly, finding solutions around specific problems presented to students was helpful to a practical course in physical education major. Fourth, motor performance was significantly improved by PBL and enhanced cognitive domain by generalization. In conclusion, by selecting appropriate domain and topic and developing unstructured problematic situations approach to a real life using videoing and online tools, PBL could be an effective teaching method in physical education.
