The purpose of this study was to compare the potential impact of the cardiovascular system, blood variables, and hsCRP according to UCP2 gene insertion(I)/deletion(D) polymorphism. A total of 160 apparently healthy female volunteers(45.35±3.22 years old) were recruited from the D community public health center in Seoul. The subjects were middle-aged women(n＝160), and were divided into three groups as II genotype, ID genotype, and DD genotype. From this group, 68 subjects were diagnosed with morbidly obese patients(mean age 45.5±5.5years: mean BMI 48.1±6.3㎏/㎡). The results of BMI and % fat, TG, and LDL increased significant in UCP2 polymorphism DD type compare to II and ID type. the II type of I uncoupling proteins 2 showed significant highly in contrast to other type. In addition to, hsCRP is expressed significant highly in DD type compared to II and ID type. In conclusion, this study was conducted to examine the difference on cardiovascular systems, blood variables, and hsCRP. These results suggest that DD polymorphism group significantly increases the risk of obesity. However, multiple factors were consider in expecting obesity.
