The purpose of this study is to identify the effects of aerobic exercise according to the polymorphism in the UCP1 gene of obese children. For this study 36 children, who is over 25% BMI and did not involved regularly exercise were assigned according to gene types in the UCP1 subunits. (GA, GG, and AA). Frequencies of normal gene were 60.9%, mutation gene were 39.1%(GG 2 and GA 17) in this subjects. It also was appeared in G allele 20.7% and A allele 79.03%. All of subjects performed aerobic program at the gym for ball games, and the small mountain for walking and climbing exercise during 5 weeks. The statistical analysis were used by two-way ANOVA with repeated measure. The results are as following after program in 5 weeks, It was significantly increased in height, and BMI and % body fat were significantly decreased in the all of subjects. But blood lipids variables were not changed significantly. There were significantly higher only in the cardiorespiratory function and muscle endurance than those before. However, in the case according to the UCP1 gene polymorphism, the higher height, and lower BMI and % body fat were significantly showed in the two groups. HDL level in the only mutation group increased significantly. But there were significantly increased on the cardiorespiratory function in the normal group and on the muscle endurance in the mutation group. The other variables were not changed significantly at all. In conclusion, short term aerobic exercise in this study was effective for the various variables. But the associations between UCP1 gene polymorphism subtypes and measure variables were not significant in the study.
