This research aims to find out the effect of consumption of 3mg·kg-1 caffeine on skin temperature(Tsk) and hemocomcentration during 70% VO2max treadmill running exercise for 40mins in hot(30~32℃, humidity 40~50%). College-age five men(age: 25.63±4.47yrs, height: 170.26±7.67㎝, weight: 69.15±11.88㎏, VO2max: 49.80±3.30㎖·㎏-1·min, body fat(%): 18.09±6.43, exercise caree r: 2.10±1.75yrs, caffeine dose: 207.44±35.65㎎) who were not habitual caffeine consumers. The study was a double-blind, randomized, crossover design. So, placed into three groups(control CON, placebo PLAC, caffeine CAFF). Tsk was measured every 5 minutes on chest, upper-arm, thigh, leg during the workout. The results showed that there was not a significant difference Tsk between groups(p=.087). There was no significant change in Hb between prior to and following exercise in all groups. Although the Hb value was the highest for the CAFF, there were no significant differences among the groups(p=.980). Hct level did not significant difference between groups(p=.955). Serum osmolarity also did not significant difference between between the groups(p=.757). In the case of total protein, there was not significant between the groups(p=.404). Percent dehydration of CAFF(1.24%) lower than PLAC(1.81%). In conclusion, it was confirmed that the consumption of 3㎎·㎏-1 caffeine prior to exercising in hot environment does not impart negative effect on body temperature and hemoconcentration.
