The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of aerobic and anaerobic fatigue induction on postural stability and lactic acid accumulation during recovery. Twelve male adults (n=12) aged 20~26 years participated in the study. Postural stability was measured with force-plate (AMTI, USA) at pre-fatigue, post-fatigue, recovery 5 min, 10 min, and 15 min. Lactic acid was analysed with YSI 1500 Sport Lactate Analyzer (YSI, USA). Heart rate and RPE were recorded at the same time point. Maximal incremental test on cycle ergometer was performed to induced the aerobic fatigue. Wingate anaerobic test was applied to induce the anaerobic fatigue. Two-way ANOVA with repeated measures was applied to figure out the interaction effect between group and time. One-way ANOVA and independent t-test were applied. Significant level was set at .05. Although there was no interaction effect of time and group for medial-lateral distance with eye-closed (ECML). Signigicant main effect of time (p<.001) and group (p<.01) could be observed for anterior-posterior with eye-closed (ECAP). Both anterior-posterior (p<.01) and medial-lateral (p<.001) with eye-open were significantly changed by aerobic and anaerobic fatigue during the test periods. Significant interaction effects of time and group were found for heart rate (p<.01) and lactic acid (p<.001). Heart rate was changed significantly by both aerobic and anaerobic fatigue during the test. In conclusion, anterior-posterior distance with eye-closed were changed significantly both aerobic and anaerobic fatigue but not medial-lateral with eye-closed. Heart rate and lactic acid were changed significantly by both aerobic and anaerobic fatigue during the test. Future study should be focused on fatigue and postural stability considering independent muscle group measured by EMG.
