Nowadays, an airline service is one of the most popular departments in second-year colleges because it is easy for students to get a good job after graduation. In general, a curriculum related to airline service department is largely classified into 3 subjects: foreign languages, cabin services and service mind. Furthermore, most departments think of extracurricular activities as an important factor to increase their educational goals for students.
This study is to find out how important extracurricular activities operate in a curriculum. Among 30 schools having an airline service department, the survey with interview method was conducted from only four schools because in 2012 they got about 85% of all new flight attendants graduating from airline service departments. The responses showed such major extracurricular activities as foreign language camp, flight attendant experience, improvement training for service mind and visitation to aviation facilities.
As a result, all activities operated in each of school were very similar, but ‘A’ college was mainly focused on improvement training for service mind. It is considerate that all schools should make the extracurricular activities for students to develop and advance their curriculum.
