Report Errors
When we regard open space of urban area as public one, it includes square, park and sidewalks. Such open space provides many users with playground for various activities as well as gives place for rest and mental stability. In Korea, the usage of open space is very low and the range of open space usage is quite limited. Therefore, the territoriality related with mental stability and various social behavior becomes of great importance and it is thought to be necessary to study the ways and diversity of designing open space. This study is based on the research on books and actual examples of territoriality and various ways of expression. The scope of this study is limited to city parks, and the range of this study mainly focuses on design expression of territoriality. The researcher visited the city parks in person, and took the picture of them and analyzed under the research standards. The research shows that expression of territoriality is not quite diversified and that function of controlling behavior is weak and that mental effect meeds to be considered in open space design. This study has its meaning in that satisfying more demand on people`s behavior by expanding territoriality to open public and space and offering various ways of expressing territoriality in open space.
