The number of foreign tourists has increased and the demand of hotel rooms also has risen for the last few years. At this time, we must prepare methods that can improve their service quality in accordance with a quantitative growth of hotel industry. The purpose of this study is to find out problems of on the job Training System and produce remedies by using National Competency Standards of Accommodation Service.
Focus group interview method was conducted. The participants were selected among the experts who had been participated in development of NCS. 21 experts who were working or had worked at hotel joined in this Focus Group Interview.
The results of this research are presented as follows: First, the on the job Training should be added in accordance with analysis of NCS. Second, new system of OJT program on the base of new Qualified system as well as performance tests should be remedied by using job performance criteria of NCS. Third, the license system must be connected with job training course or formal education. Fourth, Government should support the obligatory employment of License holders who has been certified by the hotel company. Fifth, hotel management should give them to preferential treatment in hiring and promotion.
