This paper tried to ask critically the relationship between the regime of UNESCO’s intangible cultural heritage and east-asian folkloristics. Concretely, it examined how the folkloristics of Korea, China and Japan have dealt with the current issues about intangible cultural heritage. And it addressed how the folklore researchers have involved in that global system practically. Especially, it focused on the trend and results of China and Japan folkloristics distinguished from each other. They present much of different in that the coordinated response between the state and science on a nation wide scale, and the establishment and revision of related legal system ; and the loyalty of folkloristic to the supremacy ideology and its practical logics.
This paper paid special attention to the critical argument of Siaidon(China) and Iwamoto Michiya(Japan). They criticized the tendency of ‘chinese folkloristic as the study of intangible cultural heritage’ and ‘japanese folkloristic as the study of intangible cultural property.’ Because the dealing with the local folklore as the national cultural property and global cultural heritage hinder the political independence of science and aggravate its frivolity ; besides folkloristic who have to understand and interpret the practical life of people with the sympathy, make the folk as cultural property and heritage with arbitrary choice and cut, thereby lead in making the local folk with equivalence to hierarchic heritage.
