This study aims t examine how Korean adult native speakers understand the so-called plural copying that appears at adverbs. The extrinsic plural marker –tul (EPM) used for plural copying has been discussed to assign a sense of distributivity to the sentence interpretation (Song, 1997; Sohn, 1975; Kuh, 1987; Youn, 1990; Lee, 1991; Kim, 1994; Park, 2008; Kim, 2014; Hwang, 2013). There has been little experimental approach to substantiate previous analyses on it by testing whether Korean adult native speakers are able to evoke its distributive sense. In a Truth Value Judgement Task (TVJT), participants were required to judge whether target sentences with –tul attached to adverbs were compatible with picture stories. The results showed that adult native speakers of Korean were able to licence the distributive reading to sentences containing it. In other words, a manner denoted by an adverb is distributed over each member of plural agents. Additionally, it was found that they had a tendency to localize the scope of EPM to the constituents it is attached to rather than extending its scope to the verb phrase as a whole. It indicates that EPM plays a role of a local distributor.
