This study analyzes the effect of social capital and technical factor on corporate innovative performance in Wonju Industrial cluster, where more people with diverse regional connections are gathered compared to other regions being developed as an innovative corporate city. Social capital was categorized into bonding social capital and bridging social capital, and direct effect of each social capital on corporate innovative performance and indirect effect intermediated by technical factor were verified via a statistical analysis. The effect of technical factor itself on a corporate innovative performance was additionally examined.
The study result confirmed that bonding social capital has a significant effect on technical factors. Furthermore, even though bonding social capital does not have a direct effect on innovative performance, it was confirmed to have an indirect effect mediated by technical factors. An industrial cluster with a dense concentration of corporations showed stronger internal bonding and such bonding social capital was contributing to the development of the know-how on introducing technologies and acquiring product certification. It was found that a modest scale region with a high concentration of small and medium enterprises such as Wonju Industrial Complex showed stronger internal bonding.
This paper was conducted as an extension of a prior study that analyzed the influence of social capital on a cluster’s innovative performance based on Daedeok Innopolis. In the future, by conducting further studies that compare and analyze the effect of social capital on each regional industrial cluster, the researcher aims to present an efficient operation methodology of social capital to enhance corporate innovative performance in industrial clusters.

본 연구는 혁신기업도시가 조성되면서 여러 지역의 다양한 연고를 가진 사람들이 타 지역에 비해서 많이 모여서 생활하고 있는 원주산업클러스터를 대상으로 사회적 자본과 기술적 요인이 기업의 혁신성과에 미치는 영향에 대하여 분석한다. 사회적 자본을 결속형 사회적 자본과 교량형 사회적 자본으로 구분하여, 각 사회적 자본이 기업의 혁신성과에 직접적으로 영향을 미치는 부분과 기술적 요인의 매개를 통하여 간접적으로 영향을 미치는 부분에 대하여 통계분석을 통하여 검증하였으며, 기술적 요인이 그 자체로써 기업의 혁신성과에 미치는 부분에 대하여도 살펴 보았다.
연구 결과, 결속형 사회적 자본은 기술적 요인에 유의한 영향을 미치고 있음을 확인하였다. 또한, 결속형 사회적 자본이 혁신성과에 직접적으로 영향을 미치지는 않았지만, 기술적 요인의 매개 효과를 통해 혁신성과에 영향을 미치고 있음이 확인되었다. 산업클러스터는 기업이 밀집되어 있는 곳일수록 내적 결속이 강하게 나타나고 그 결속을 통해서 기술을 도입하고 제품인증을 획득할 수 있는 노하우를 발전시키는데 기여하고 있음을 알 수 있으며, 원주산업단지와 같이 규모가 크지 않고 중소기업이 많이 밀집되어 있는 곳일수록 내적 결속이 강하게 나타나고 있음을 알 수 있다.
본 논문은 대덕연구개발특구를 대상으로 사회적 자본이 클러스터의 혁신성과에 미치는 영향을 분석한 선행연구의 연장선상에서 연구되었으며, 향후 각 지역별 산업클러스터를 대상으로 연구를 계속하여 사회적 자본의 영향을 비교 분석함으로써, 산업클러스터 내에서 기업혁신성과를 향상시키기 위한 사회적 자본의 효율적 운영방법론을 제시하고자 한다.
