This paper has examined the influence of Su-shi" literature theory on Chosun literary artists, and have found out that Kang Hee-maeng, Kim Yil-son, Shin Heum, Cho Gui-myeong, Shin Jung-Ha, Hong Yang-ho, Lee Deok-mu, Jeong Yak-yong, and Kim Jeong-hee had actively accepted poetry and prose of Sushi through their major poetries and prose.
First, through the entire Chosun Dynasty, Chosun literary artists approved of ‘poetry and painting being one’, the concept of Sushi, and insisted on natural creations. They are identified by the object, and saw the painting as part of mental discipline, and emphasized ‘poetry and painting being one’. This concept lifted the value of the painting to the position of poetry.
Second, Chosun literary artists actively accepted self-cultivation theory of Su-shi and emphasized ‘self-learning’. They focused on unintentional and natural expressions, and argued that they could acquire self-cultivation through constant practice.
Third, the popularity of Sushi’ essays and letters made Chosun literary artists express their personal feelings more freely and helped them fell catharsis. Artists of the late Chosun Dynasty considered entertainment and personal satisfaction as a practical value of literature, and praised the literary beauty of Sushi’ letters.
